Matteo Salinas

Good day, from Atlanta, Georgia.

My name is Matteo Salinas. I’m an economics student at the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business.

01About

Matteo Salinas

I’ve built the models and I’ve been in the client meetings. I want the work that needs both.

I’m studying economics at the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business. I transferred from the University of Kentucky, where I studied from August 2023 through spring 2026. I speak English and Spanish, and I can work in both the US and EU without sponsorship.

Most of my experience has been at the intersection of research, analysis, and decision-making. I’ve done valuation work on HCA and Marathon Petroleum using unlevered DCFs, sum-of-the-parts analysis, and reverse DCFs. At ZEISS, I built four Power BI dashboards from the ground up for its Southeast Asia reporting units, and they remained in use after my internship. At BNY Wealth in Atlanta, I built analytical tools the Atlanta wealth team adopted, several of which colleagues picked up in other offices, and I sat in on client and portfolio discussions. I liked the modeling. I liked the client conversations even more.

What I want next is more of both, with harder problems and more responsibility. I enjoyed working abroad and would do it again, but the work matters more to me than the place.

How I got here

02Experience

May 2026 – Aug 2026

Global Investments & Wealth Intern

BNY · Atlanta, GA

I rotated across the floor rather than sitting on one desk: private banking, advisory and portfolio management. Most of my time went into the dashboards and tools those teams ran on, turning a complex client decision into a financial tradeoff an advisor could put a number on in the room. My primary mentor was a private banker, so most of the work was banking and client advisory, and the client side was the part I liked most.

What I built
  • A Roth conversion analysis tool and a Sell vs. Borrow dashboard, both written up in Work below, adopted across the wealth team in the Atlanta office. Several of the tools were picked up by colleagues in other offices, including Tampa and New York.
  • A banking deal sheet dashboard to take the friction out of deal prep.
  • Net Worth Statements and client meeting books across investment, retirement, trust, alternative and real estate holdings.
  • Relationship-level SWOT analyses presented for office review, identifying client needs, risks and potential opportunities.
  • Prospect coverage across the Southeast and Florida: high-net-worth families, family offices and centers of influence the advisors hadn't reached yet.

Feb 2026 – May 2026

Equity Research Analyst Intern

Bluegrass Capital Research · Lexington, KY

I built a five-year unlevered DCF, trading comps and a three-case valuation for HCA. The work forced me to separate the mechanics of valuation from the investment thesis behind it: capital returns, margin durability, and the value of network density.

The call
  • BUY on HCA Healthcare (NYSE: HCA). $558 price target, 28.4% implied upside. The full report is in Work below.
  • Forward projections off 10-K/10-Q filings and earnings releases across the healthcare, energy and TMT names on the coverage list: revenue, margins, CapEx and working capital.

Oct 2025 – Jan 2026

Financial Planning & Analysis Intern, Southeast Asia

ZEISS Group · Singapore, SG

I supported the Southeast Asia FP&A team across four reporting units, including Singapore, Malaysia and Vietnam, working on monthly close, rolling forecasts, budget variance analysis and management reporting. Much of my work focused on improving the data and reporting infrastructure underneath those processes.

What I built
  • Four Power BI dashboards built from the ground up over SQL-structured datasets, one per reporting unit. The architecture is in Work below. They remained in use after my internship.
  • Excel models projecting revenue, operating expense and cash flow across the region, built off drivers so one assumption change moved the whole regional forecast.
  • Variance analysis against budget and prior forecast, with sales and margin analysis feeding regional strategy.
  • Market, competitor and industry research across the four markets.

May 2025 – Aug 2025

Private Wealth Management Intern

Vantage Financial Alliance · Alpharetta, GA

The value of this internship was proximity. I accompanied the firm's Chairman into executive-level client meetings and strategic planning conversations, getting an early look at how wealth-management relationships are built, maintained and expanded.

What I took from it
  • How tax strategy, estate planning, portfolio construction and business development come together inside a single client conversation, and how much of the judgment depends on understanding the person across the table.
  • Direct mentorship from the Chairman, and training in the sales side of it: how a relationship gets opened, and what keeps it.

Aug 2024 – Dec 2025

Founder

MAAD Investments · Atlanta, GA

A ticket resale business built around supply-demand analysis, pricing and disciplined capital allocation. Over a hundred event opportunities evaluated a year, priced off the supply and demand around each one rather than off instinct, which is the entire edge. Capital allocation, operating budget and full P&L were mine.

The numbers
  • $70,000 in revenue within the first five months.
  • Managed pricing, inventory, capital allocation and full P&L across concurrent events.
  • 100+ event opportunities evaluated annually.

03Work

BNY · Private Banking 02

Roth Conversion Analysis Tool

Built from scratch to compare one-time and multi-year Roth conversion strategies across tax cost, IRMAA, portfolio growth and estate outcomes. Designed so advisors could run the analysis themselves after my internship.

Detail
  • Models tax cost, IRMAA exposure and estate outcomes across one-time and staged multi-year conversions.
  • Shipped with a written advisor SOP so the team could run it without me.
ZEISS · FP&A 04

Southeast Asia FP&A Reporting System

Four reporting units on four different shapes of source data, which meant the regional pack was rebuilt by hand every month. I rebuilt the layer underneath it: one modeled dataset per market, the logic written once, the monthly pack falling out of it.

Detail
  • The architecture: source extracts per market, cleaned and conformed in Power Query, modeled into a star schema over SQL-structured datasets, measures written in DAX, surfaced as four Power BI dashboards feeding management reporting.
  • Writing the logic as DAX measures rather than patching the source is the part that made it survive: the same measure definitions across all four, so a figure means the same thing in every unit's report instead of depending on who built that tab.
  • Covered four reporting units, including Singapore, Malaysia and Vietnam, against monthly close, rolling forecast and budget variance.
  • No figures or screenshots here. The work is the architecture, and the architecture is the part that transfers.
BNY · Private Banking 05

Sell vs. Borrow Dashboard

Compares the after-tax cost of liquidating appreciated securities against borrowing against the portfolio, giving an advisor a client-ready view of the tradeoff.

Detail
  • Built for the private banking team to make the liquidate-or-lend decision explicit in the client conversation rather than after it.
  • Paired with a Banking Deal Sheet dashboard that cut the prep time on deal documentation.
Founded 06

MAAD Investments

A ticket resale business built around supply-demand analysis, pricing and disciplined capital allocation. $70,000 of revenue in the first five months.

Detail
  • Evaluated 100+ event opportunities a year, pricing off supply-demand dynamics and market research.
  • Sized positions across concurrent events so no single night carried the book.
  • Owned capital allocation, operating budget and full P&L.
Co-founded 07

Sensei Notify

A subscription research platform I co-founded at fifteen and ran for just over two years: market analysis, alerts and trend forecasting for a market that repriced every weekend. 400+ subscribers at peak, at a 95% retention rate.

Detail
  • Owned customer acquisition, pricing, financial management and the community end to end.
  • Managed a team of 15, spread across time zones.
  • Recurring revenue, so churn was the whole business. Subscribers could leave any week, which meant the product had to be right every week.
